But I digress as usual, yesterday was Valentines Day! I personally abhor something sooooo commercialized and cheezy, in Bollywood land Valentines is everyday where the Shah Rukh and Shashi's romance me around the trees or in a Kashmiri boat ride. But here are some of my favorite and most unrealistic love stories ever that have made me the craziest BollyHollyMusicalitis sufferer in Blogland.
1. Kabhi Kabhie:
Guilty of: Making me search Vancouver for a poet as broody and cute as AB, purchasing a funky leopard print jacket like Raakhee, questioning if I'm adopted, wishing for a cherubic boyfriend like Rishi, wishing to marry a hubby as cuuute and forgiving as Shashi, and aging gracefully like Raakhee. Kabhi Kabhie is a wonderful movie but perhaps watching at 13 didn't help my chances when coming to Vancouver. Damn you Yash Chopra for making luscious and cute movies.
Guilty of : Dancing in the street on the way home from work, falling for someone so cute as Anil Kapoor, wanting to be a revolutionary at 3 years old like Jackie Shroff, buying an Orange chuni to fling around in a field by myself! Wanting to receive a Hollywood style snog while performing Kuch Naa Kaho, to be chased all through my small town by an Anil-lookalike who screams "Rum Rum Rum!" 1942 is an epic love story that I shouldn't have watched when I was an impressionable 2 year and 18 year old!
3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Guilty of : Making me love my best guy friend, following the fugly hairband fad that Kajol started, making me buy a slinky purple shiny dress like Rani in "Koi Mil Gaya", made "Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayi" the saddest breakup anthem played, made me cry bucket loads like Kajol in the infamous rejection scene, made me fall for Shah Rukh, made me even like Salman, made me want to dance in a Scottish countryside4. Barsaat
Guilty of: wishing to have an RK boyfriend, making me copy all of Cuckoo's dance moves in "Patli Kamar Hai", making me dance like Cuckoo in a public place, loving the rain and dancing in it, always giving me a cold whenever dancing in the rain, buying huge hoops like Nargis, sniffing like Nargis is quite unappealing when I do it, searching for a Mr.Wrong like Premnath, buying a Mao-esque hat like Premnath, the biggest one here is : Hoping that a Romantic poet's violin music stirs my soul and I run to him and recreate a beautiful iconic pose like above.5.Bobby
Guilty of: watching any Romeo-Juliet intense love story after it, wanting to sing "Hum Tum Ek Kamre Me Bandh Ho" if I ever got trapped in a room with a boy, loving Rishi as if he was a Jonas Brother, trying out Dimple's buns(very baad idea for curly hair), Wanting to run off with someone on the "Motorbike of Cool", hoping for the electric chemistry Dimple-Rishi had, making me print the above poster on a t-shirt, and Making me sympathize more with Farida Jalal crazy girl than with the star-crossed lovers, wishing that my young love was that mad and intense. Bobby is a wonderful movie, I could watch it all the time because there ain't nothin better than a teenage love story!
Hope you like them, a part 2 will definitely follow as the Bollywood movies that made me into a goofy person must be exposed!

See, I'm the opposite: I was raised on "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," "The Sound of Music," and "Oklahoma!" so I blame my mother for predisposing me to Bollyitis.
Yup, movies are definitely to blame for a number of things. I am still looking for that perfect Mr. Right who can sing like Rafi, dance like Hrithik, look like Shashi and dishoom like Dharmendra!
And I cant wait for part 2 to know what other movies have influenced you!
OMG! I blame movies for so many things!! Let's start with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Blackmail for making me wish I had a husband to fall in love with... :(
Can't wait for part 2!
so ppl actually copied the Kajol-hairband look, huh? Too funny!
The only ones I've seen are KKHH and Bobby, and they're both delightlful! I'll have to watch the others, though! Thanks for the list!
